The magic chest: essential oils my treasure trove

Personal curiosities: a bit of everyday life

In this section I want to tell you about myself, more as a woman than as a professional. One of my great passions for many years has been essential oils, which have entered my life and my daughter’s life like a precious treasure. Each of us handles these oils according to our personal feelings. We have a real treasure chest that contains so many, but each of us has our own kits.

Our history with essential oils

I’ve always circled around the world of essential oils without ever diving in completely, thinking I wasn’t knowledgeable enough. With the arrival of my daughter, I tell this often, so many new “channels” opened up and I began to slowly rely on my instincts.

During my time in Switzerland (a land I loved dearly), while focusing on motherhood both professionally and personally, I attended a Doterra presentation at the maternity home in Lugano. It was love at first sniff!

As they explained the unique qualities and characteristics of Doterra preparations, they offered us a vial of “simple” lavender. I had never heard such lavender before! It was not just a matter of smell … when you refine your senses, you perceive so many other things.

The beginning of a journey

I asked to purchase a basic kit of 10 oils, which lasted me almost two years, and that was the beginning of a journey. Over the years I have experimented between blends and supplements, guided by instinct and confidence.

Relying on intuition

From an early age, my daughter always carried a purse containing her favorite essential oils, her “basic kit.” I also have my kit, which varies according to the periods.

Being able to intuitively flow between essences gives beautiful surprises. We often intuitively choose what we need, without even looking at the label, or we wake up to the “call” of a particular oil.

I learned over time to rely on this movement and only later to look for insights, always discovering that that was the right oil at the time. One of the things that fascinates me most about the world of essential oils is that they work on both the physical and the emotional and energetic levels. They can be put into diffusion, applied to the body, and taken internally (only if they are very pure, of the highest quality, and in the right condition) and are ready for use.

My must-haves for this period (June 2024)

Currently, my must-have essential oils are:

  • Balance: For grounding and stability.
  • Geranium: The essence of the feminine, self-esteem, courage and confidence. I use it as a perfume every day.
  • Rose: The oil of unconditional love, also good for facial cosmetics.
  • Copaiba: Great for fighting pain due to its anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties and great healer of past emotional wounds.
  • Frankincense: Analgesic, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, diuretic, expectorant, protects cells and amplifies the action of all other oils. Emotionally, it is called the oil of truth.

These oils are valuable and a bit expensive, but they are worth it. With the exception of the basic oil kits that are never lacking in the home, over time, I began to invest in more specialty oils as well.

A change of course

I have always been a big fan of perfume, but after discovering essential oils and studying endocrine disruptors in commercial perfumes (even big brand names), I changed course. Today, synthetic perfumes are unapproachable for me.

I love seeing how my daughter, now 13 years old, has completely mastered essence management. She also changes her favorites over time, depending on how she feels.

Our “Travel Fundamentals”

Now, while we are traveling, my daughter has her “travel fundamentals.”

  • Lavender in roll-on format: Brings calm and serenity, and is also an excellent ready-to-use disinfectant.
  • Melaleuca (Tea Tree): A physical and energetic level disinfectant, it removes negative energy loads and is the oil of boundaries.
  • Tamer Blend: Formulated for children in case of nausea or stomach discomfort during travel.
  • Clary Calm: Women’s blend, supports and relaxes when emotions run high, great for regulating the menstrual cycle and the transition to menopause.

Sharing “good things”

I facilitated the enrollment of so many friends but never considered the promotion of Doterra as something on a larger scale. Today I feel more and more that good things should be shared, let’s share :-)!
