class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n<p>Have you ever thought or said,<br\/><em>&#8220;I try to be careful about what I eat&#8230;&#8221;<\/em>?<\/p>\n\n<p>On the surface it sounds like a healthy, responsible phrase. But, if we look at it more closely, we find that it can become a real <strong>psychophysical trap.<\/strong> For when you &#8220;be careful&#8221; you are also telling your body that <strong>something could go wrong<\/strong>. Unknowingly, you <strong>activate alertness, control, tension.<\/strong> And with it-you lose pleasure.   <\/p>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Mindful_feeding_or_stress_in_disguise\"><\/span>Mindful feeding or stress in disguise?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n<p>Whenever you repeat &#8220;I am careful about what I eat,&#8221; you are sending a definite message to your internal system:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>&#8220;I have to be on my guard.&#8221;<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>&#8220;I could be wrong.&#8221;<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>&#8220;I have to control myself.&#8221;<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>The meal, from a natural act, thus becomes <strong>a minefield<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p>The result?<br\/>The body enters <strong>a state of physiological stress:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>digestion slows down<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>metabolism alters<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Anxiety, rigidity and guilt increase<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the sympathetic nervous system is activated (fight or flight)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>And so, the moment that should be <strong>pleasure and nourishment<\/strong> turns into <strong>vigilance and fatigue<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_paradox_of_control\"><\/span>The paradox of control<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n<p>At first, tension may seem helpful. Can you perhaps &#8220;be careful&#8221; for a few days or weeks. <\/p>\n\n<p>But then comes <strong>internal rebellion<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>&#8220;I can&#8217;t take it anymore. I EAT EVERYTHING.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n<p>It is no longer hunger. It is reaction.<br\/>You are no longer choosing, <strong>you are escaping from the cage of control.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n<p>The more you try to control &#8230; the more the need to transgress grows.<br\/>Your system demands <strong>freedom<\/strong>, not further limits.<\/p>\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>What nourishes you in those moments is no longer the food, but the idea you have of that food.<\/strong><br\/>Idea of guilt, deprivation, sacrifice, injustice.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_if_its_not_just_food\"><\/span>What if it&#8217;s not just food?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n<p>Actually, it&#8217; <strong>s not just about nutrition<\/strong>.<br\/>Are you &#8220;dieting&#8221; with your life as well?<\/p>\n\n<p>Do you hold back so as <strong>not<\/strong> to <strong>fail, not to suffer, not to disappoint<\/strong>?<\/p>\n\n<p>Do you deny yourself sweetness, lightness, pleasure&#8230;<br\/>&#8230;not only on the plate, but <strong>in relationships, emotions, experiences<\/strong>?<\/p>\n\n<p>Many of us live with the same tension with which we sit at the table:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>They do not indulge in joy.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>They watch over every word or gesture.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>They live in fear of overreaching or failing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_key_is_trust_not_control\"><\/span>The key is trust (not control)<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n<p>At the root of it all is <strong>trust<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>In your body<\/strong>, which knows when it is hungry and when it is full.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>In your emotions<\/strong>, even when they are intense.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>In life itself<\/strong>, which can bring you what you really need.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>When you cultivate trust instead of control,<br\/>you return to <strong>nurture<\/strong>, in the true sense of the word.<\/p>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_does_it_mean_to_%E2%80%9Ceat_life%E2%80%9D\"><\/span>What does it mean to &#8220;eat life&#8221;?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n<p>&#8220;Eating life&#8221; is an expression that encapsulates something much deeper:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Opening up to experiences without fear of &#8220;overdoing it.&#8221;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Stop always thinking about what is &#8220;right&#8221; to do, and <strong>start savoring<\/strong>;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Letting in <strong>sweetness, pleasure, beauty and freedom<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Self-exploration_questions\"><\/span>Self-exploration questions<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n<p>I invite you to reflect on these questions:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Where in my life am I &#8220;dieting&#8221;
